Barnardos Australia is seeking a dedicated Family Contact Workers to join our Contact team in Bruce, 2617. This is a casual opportunity to be part of a values-led organisation committed to making a real difference in the lives of children and families.
This opportunity involves split shifts starting from 7:30am-10:30am and then returning for the afternoon 2:00pm-5:30pm.
About the Role
As a Family Contact Worker, you will:
- Providing support to children and families, and facilitate contact between children and their birth family.
- Preparing written reports in a timely and accurate manner.
You’ll join a collaborative and supportive team delivering high-quality, trauma-informed services that uphold child safety, cultural safety, and family-led practice.
Skills and Experience :
- Qualifications in Community Welfare, Mental Health, Early Childhood, Childcare or related qualification and/or relevant experience in the field
- Demonstrated experience in managing challenging behaviours when working with children
- Experience in supporting parents to care for children and build strong relationships
- Strong written communication skills and ability to prepare reports
- Working knowledge of child development and the impacts of abuse & trauma
- Working knowledge of social, economic, health and cultural factors affecting client and family situations
- Full and current driver’s license
- Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities, including a strong understanding of cultural safety, self-determination, and the historical and contemporary factors that impact Aboriginal peoples.
Base salary: SCHADS 2.1
