Barnardos Australia is seeking a dedicated CAP Case Manager to join our CAP team in Bruce, 2617. This is a full-time, 12 month fixed-term opportunity to be part of a values-led organisation committed to making a real difference in the lives of children and families.

About the Role
As a Case Manager, you will:
  • Lead the care team in supporting the placement of children and young people, including developing, implementing, and reviewing care plans.
  • Provide case management and support functions in line with the Care Plan for young people, ensuring their needs are met.
  • Coordinate care teams of diverse service providers to sustain placements or support young people’s transition to independence.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in a young person’s life, including mediating and negotiating with birth families to ensure consistent identity development.
  • Support the implementation of therapeutic care plans for young people, with a culturally sensitive approach, particularly for Aboriginal children and those from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Manage budgets for young people’s needs, while committing to self-care, professional supervision, and maintaining work/life balance.


You’ll join a collaborative and supportive team delivering high-quality, trauma-informed services that uphold child safety, cultural safety, and family-led practice.

Skills and Experience :
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Specialist and/or related behavioural sciences degree level with relevant experience.
  • Two years’ previous experience in child welfare / youth work / community services / residential care
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in working with families and promoting family centered strength-based practices.
  • Demonstrated case management experience including a complex/competing caseload.
  • Sound knowledge of child protection and issues in relation to children at risk particularly in regard to their safety, development, and connection to family, culture and community
  • Ability to liaise with families, foster carers and professionals and to advocate for children/young people and carers.
  • High level of written communication skills, ability to prepare reports and correspondence to a high standard for a range of audiences.
  • Be available for after-hours emergencies and participate in the on-call and duty roster.
  • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities, including a strong understanding of cultural safety, self-determination, and the historical and contemporary factors that impact Aboriginal peoples.

What’s on Offer:
- Base salary: $76,387 – $91,282 per annum (pro rata, if applicable) + 12% superannuation
- Salary packaging: Up to $15,860 tax-free (general living expenses)
- Meal & entertainment packaging: Additional $2,650 tax-free per FBT year
