Groupwork Facilitator
Deliver evidence-based parenting programs in Cumberland LGA to build skills, knowledge and support strong parent-child relationships.

Barnardos Australia is seeking a dedicated Group Work Facilitator to join our Children, Youth and Family Support team in Homebush, 2140. This is a part time, permanent opportunity to be part of a values-led organisation committed to making a real difference in the lives of children and families.
This role can be either 3 or 4 days a week.
About the Role
As a Group Work Facilitator, you will:
- Deliver a range of evidenced based parent education courses and workshops to parents. Workshop may be provided through group based learning or individual sessions where appropriate.
- Facilitate workshops in Barnardos Cumberland Children’s Family Centre, online and outreach settings as required, i.e. local schools.
- Co-facilitate and work collaboratively with external stakeholders as required.
- Provide relevant information and referral to support clients to access appropriate services and support when the needs arise.
- Use Barnardos’ case management system (B-Hive) to capture client and attendance data.
- Monitor child protection issues, consult with Program Manager and act in accordance with the NSW Child and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998 and Barnardos Child Wellbeing & Safety Policy.
You’ll join a collaborative and supportive team delivering high-quality, trauma-informed services that uphold child safety, cultural safety, and family-led practice.
Skills and Experience :
- Minimum diploma in Social Service/Human Services, Adult Education or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation.
Demonstrated experience in working with vulnerable children and families. - Understanding of child protection issues and client vulnerabilities such as drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, and mental health issues.
- Strong public speaking and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities, including a strong understanding of cultural safety, self-determination, and the historical and contemporary factors that impact Aboriginal peoples.
- Desirable- Licensed and ability to facilitate current evidence-based Parent Education courses including but not limited to: Circle of Security, Bringing Up Great Kids, Tuning into Kids, Tuning into Teens, 123 Magic and Emotional Coaching.
What’s on Offer:
Base salary: $37.55 per hour + 12% superannuation
Salary packaging: Up to $15,860 tax-free (general living expenses)
Meal & entertainment packaging: Additional $2,650 tax-free per FBT year
