Our client is a well-respected organisation that specialises in providing best practice family support, family preservation and out-of-home care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and their families. They partner with families, providing services and support, where children are at risk of escalating within the child protection system or entering out-of-home care. Where children cannot remain safely at home, they provide culturally appropriate out-of-home care.

As the caseworker, you will collaborate with your team, families and external stakeholders to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and work to enhance parenting capacity to preserve families.

This role will involve;
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of families to identify their strengths, needs, and risks. Develop individualized case plans in collaboration with families to address their specific concerns and goals.
- Provide ongoing support and intervention to families, utilizing evidence-based strategies and interventions. Assist families in developing and enhancing their parenting skills, improving family dynamics, and promoting positive child development.
- Identify and assess potential risks to children's safety within the family. Develop and implement safety plans in collaboration with families to ensure the well-being of children. Monitor and manage risks throughout the intervention process.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as other professionals, community services, and support networks, to ensure coordinated and holistic support for families. Attend case conferences, meetings, and court hearings as required.
- Identify appropriate support services, resources, and programs to address the specific needs of families. Make referrals to relevant community-based services, such as counseling, housing assistance, substance abuse programs, or parenting education, and ensure effective coordination between different service providers.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, progress notes, and documentation in accordance with organizational and statutory requirements.
The requirements for this role include;
- Aboriginality
- Tertiary qualifications in Community Services or related field
- Experience in Foster Care or Child Protection programs
- Demonstrated ability to produce clear and concise written material
- Understanding of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998
- NSW Driver's License and Working with Children Check
- Ability to participate in a rotating on-call roster (remunerated)
